Stay a minimum of two nights, and pay no cleaning fee! Rates are $150 per night, plus tax. Regardless of the weather, it’s a great time to visit. When not storm-watching, families make use of the numerous movies, books and games available, all free of charge. The vacation rental is located right on the Klipsan Beach Approach, about half-way up the Peninsula, south of Ocean Park. The beach is located about a block and a half way, accessed on a paved road.

Families can hike together to either North Head or Cape Dissappointent Lighthouses, or tour the museums and interpretive centers. If you’re looking for vacation rentals with great kitchens and lots of space, the Klipsan Beach Life Saving Station may be just what your family needs. Long Beach Peninsula’s 2011 Razor Clam Dig Dates

Washington coast razor clam digging dates 2011Clam digging dates are tentative, based on upcoming marine toxin tests, but the Department of Fish and Wildlife has scheduled the following razor clam dig dates for November and December of 2011. Here are the proposed dates, along with low tides:

  • Nov. 12, Sat. – 7:23 p.m. (-0.4 ft.)
  • Nov. 25, Fri. – 6:27 p.m. (-1.9 ft.)
  • Nov. 26, Sat. – 7:14 p.m. (-1.8 ft.)
  • Dec. 10, Sat. – 6:30 p.m. (-0.5 ft.)
  • Dec. 22, Thurs. – 4:40 p.m. (-0.9 ft.)
  • Dec. 23, Fri. – 5:29 p.m. (-1.4)

Stay two nights, and find your unit supplied with cranberry soap from Harmony SoapWorks, an Oysterville soap-making company. You’ll also receive a signed cranberry “Bog Frogs” ceramic tile by Ilwaco artist Don Nisbett. Add a third night, and pay no cleaning fee. Book four nights and receive a $20 gift certificate to Nisbett’s gallery, where you can add to your “Bog Frogs” collection! Book five nights and we’ll cover the cost of the $5 admission button to all festival activities for everyone in your party. We’ve entered that quiet and blissful time on the Peninsula

While there are still some interesting festivals coming up on the Long Beach Peninsula, they tend to be calmer than the summer’s rowdier ones. Check our September 13 post for information on the Cranberrian Fair, the One Sky, One World Kite Celebration, the Water Music Festival, the Graveyard of the Pacific shipwreck events and the Wild Mushroom Celebration, which continues through November.

October, one of the most beautiful months on the Long Beach Peninsula, is just around the corner. Book  now, while you have your choice of weeks! October also begins our senior (50+) and homeschool specials–half-price full weeks. Those weeks begin at 4pm on Fridays and end at noon on Thursdays, holiday weeks excluded.

What’s happening in October 2011? For much of the month, you can observe our local cranberry fields as they are flooded, and the cranberries harvested. Beginning in mid-October and continuing through November is the Wild Mushroom Celebration, featuring the 18 varieties of edible wild mushrooms that grow on the Peninsula.

Following are dates for some of our special events in October 2011:

October 7-10Peninsula Arts Association Fall Show, featuring more than 60 local artists.
October 8-9One Sky, One World Kite Celebration, featuring international peace and friendship.
October 8-991st Annual Cranberrian Fair, a harvest festival celebrating cranberry foods and traditions.
October 14-16Water Music Festival XXVI, featuring five ticketed concerts and a free concert, playing Baroque, light classical music and jazz.
October 22-23Graveyard of the Pacific Shipwreck Events, commemorating the shipwreck heritage of the Columbia Pacific region. Stay at the Klipsan Beach Life Saving Station, where many of the rescues took place!

Two vacancies in September at Klipsan Beach

We have only a couple of dates still available in September for those looking for a unique getaway.  The downstairs unit is available Sept. 6-7, and Sept. 25-30. The upstairs unit is fully booked.

Cancellation opens up Rod Run week-long vacancy

This morning we had a cancellation for the week surrounding Rod Run, so our upstairs unit that sleeps six is now available. Our Rod Run special offers are now back on the table! Stay three nights or more and you’ll receive a basket filled with terrific NASCAR merchandise. Also with a three-night stay there is no cleaning fee or other fees, for that matter. The Slow Drag at the Port of Ilwaco will be held Sept. 9. The Rod Run will be held Sept. 10-11. The Klipsan Beach Life Saving Station, just south of Ocean Park and on the main highway, is the perfect location for viewing cars as they travel to and from the Rod Run. There’s also a secure fenced area where vintage automobiles can be parked. Email us for reservations or more information.
